BAPS Scholarship 2025
BAPS is pleased to offer a scholarship (monetary value £3000) to overseas trainee Paediatric Surgeons who are nearing the end of their pediatric surgical training or those who have been appointed as consultants in the past two years to attend the annual BAPS scientific congress in Bruges, Belgium and spend three months in a centre of their choice in the UK.
The ‘BAPS Scholar’ will be selected and nominated by their home specialty associations.
The successful scholar is expected to present a poster at the BAPS International Congress and, therefore, should submit an abstract for the proposed presentation along with their application. The scholar would also be expected to give a short 2-minute presentation during the International Forum session of the BAPS Congress.
This year, the candidate should be from Western Africa, which includes the following countries:
- Republic of Benin
- Burkina Faso
- Republic of Cabo Verde
- Republic of Côte d’Ivoire
- Republic of the Gambia
- Republic of Ghana
- Republic of Guinea
- Republic of Guinea-Bissau
- Republic of Liberia
- Republic of Mali
- Republic of Niger
- Federal Republic of Nigeria
- Republic of Senegal
- Republic of Sierra Leone
- Togolese Republic
Applications should be submitted to the Honorary Secretary of the Pan African Pediatric Surgical Association (PAPSA) at chitnis.m@gmail.com by 1700 hrs Pretoria time on the 31st of December 2024.
PAPSA will then forward a recommendation to the International Affairs Committee following a local selection process.
The IAC will make a final recommendation, and the decision will be communicated to the successful candidate after confirmation from the BAPS Executive Committee.
Applications should include:
1. Short (2 pages) Curriculum Vitae in English
2. 200-word document outlining the reasons why this fellowship would be helpful
3. Abstract for poster presentation (maximum 300 words)
The International Affairs Committee WILL NOT ACCEPT any direct scholarship applications without the endorsement of the applicant’s regional or national pediatric surgical confederation/association.
