It gives me the greatest pleasure to welcome you to the 11th Biennial Meeting of Pan African Pediatric Surgical Association (PAPSA) in collaboration with the Association of Paediatric Surgeons of Nigeria (APSON) to be held in Lagos from 18–24 September 2016.PAPSA continues to implement its mission “To provide a platform for paediatric surgeons in Africa to interact through scientific programs such as symposia, seminars, workshops and paper presentations in addition to other social activities”

The program committee is planning a fabulous program, reflecting the diversity of paediatric surgical practice across Africa in different settings. There will be three pre-conference workshops: Colorectal Surgery Workshop (18th and 19th September), Minimal Access Surgery Workshop (18th and 19th September), and the BAPS Neonatal Surgical Skills Course (20th September, 2016).

As usual, the Biennial PAPSA meeting offers a great opportunity for representatives of the major international paediatric surgical associations to define the real need for paediatric surgeons in Africa and to initiate a sustainable cooperation in the future. It also of paramount importance for junior African paediatric surgeons to meet personally the directors of major paediatric surgical training programs in Africa to explore further opportunities of training slots.

The members of the local organising committee are very proud to be hosting the PAPSA 2016 congress and look forward to welcoming you to the city of Lagos and Nigeria as a country. A very rich social program will be arranged for PAPSA delegates and their accompanying family members.

Please join our local and international experts in what we hope will be a fantastic meeting.
